How Your Data Is Stored

All data you enter into Total Worth — your assets, cash accounts, investments, settings, and person profiles — is stored exclusively in your web browser's localStorage. This is a storage mechanism built into every modern browser that keeps data on your device and your device only.

Your data is never sent to any server. There is no backend, no database, no cloud sync, and no API calls that transmit your financial information. When you close the browser tab, your data remains saved locally and is available the next time you visit.

No User Accounts

Total Worth does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in. There is no registration process. You simply open the app and start using it. This means there is no user database and no personally identifiable information to protect, because none is ever collected.

No Analytics or Tracking

Total Worth does not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Hotjar, or any other analytics or tracking service. There are no tracking pixels, no session recordings, no heatmaps, and no event logging. We have no idea how many people use the app, what features they use, or how long they stay. That is by design.

No Cookies

Total Worth does not set any cookies. There are no first-party cookies, no third-party cookies, no session cookies, and no tracking cookies. Cookie consent banners are not needed because there are no cookies to consent to.

No Third-Party Services

The application does not connect to any external APIs, services, or data providers. Exchange rates and market prices are entered manually by you. No financial institution, data aggregator, or third-party service ever receives your data.

The only external resources loaded are web fonts (from Google Fonts) and the icon library (PrimeIcons), which are standard front-end assets and do not transmit any user data.

Data Export and Portability

You can export all of your data at any time from the Settings page. The export produces a standard JSON file that downloads directly to your device. This file contains all your assets, cash accounts, investments, person profiles, and app settings. You own this data completely.

You can import a previously exported JSON file to restore your data on the same or a different device. The import is processed entirely in your browser — the file is never uploaded to any server.

Data Deletion

Since all data lives in your browser's localStorage, you have full control over deletion:

• Clear browser data — Use your browser's built-in "Clear browsing data" or "Clear site data" feature to remove all Total Worth data.
• Uninstall the PWA — If you've installed Total Worth as a Progressive Web App, uninstalling it removes all associated local data.
• Delete individual items — Use the app's interface to remove specific assets, accounts, investments, or person profiles.

There is no data on any server to request deletion of, because no data is ever sent to a server.

Children's Privacy

Total Worth does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the app collects no data at all, there is no risk of collecting children's data.

Security

Total Worth is served over HTTPS, ensuring that the application code is delivered securely to your browser. Since no data is transmitted to any server, there is no network attack surface for your financial data. The data in localStorage is protected by your browser's same-origin policy, meaning only the Total Worth website can access it.

For additional security, we recommend using a modern, up-to-date browser and protecting your device with a screen lock or password.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, the updated version will be posted on this page. However, our core commitment will never change: Total Worth will never collect, store, or transmit your personal or financial data.
