How Total Worth Works

Total Worth gives you a single dashboard to track everything you own — real estate, bank accounts, and investments. Here's how to get started in under five minutes.

Getting Started

Open the Dashboard

Click "Open Dashboard" from the home page. There's no sign-up, no email verification, and no account to create. The app is ready to use instantly. Your data is stored in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.

Add Your Fixed Assets

Navigate to the Fixed Assets tab and click "Add Asset." Enter your property details: a name (e.g. "3-bedroom apartment in Cluj-Napoca"), location, size in square meters, and purchase price. The app automatically calculates the price per square meter from your inputs.

Then add yearly valuations. For example, if the local market price was 3,000 EUR/sqm in 2025 and rose to 3,300 EUR/sqm in 2026, enter both values. Total Worth multiplies your property's area by the market rate to calculate its current value.

Track Your Cash Accounts

Go to the Liquidity tab and add each of your bank accounts. Select the currency (EUR, USD, or RON) and enter the balance for each year you want to track. Total Worth converts all accounts to your display currency using the exchange rates you configure in Settings.

This is especially useful if you hold savings in multiple currencies. See exactly how your total liquidity changes year over year, regardless of which currencies your accounts are in.

Monitor Your Investments

Switch to the Investments tab to add crypto, stocks, or index funds. For each investment, enter the symbol (e.g. BTC, SPY), the quantity you hold per year, and the price per unit per year.

For example, if you held 1 Bitcoin in 2025 and bought another in 2026, record quantity as 1 and 2 respectively. Enter the price at which you want to value each year. Total Worth shows your portfolio's total value and how it grows.

View Your Wealth Dashboard

Return to the Dashboard to see everything together. An interactive chart shows your total net worth over time, stacked by category: real estate in one color, cash in another, and investments in a third. Use the date range slider to focus on any period, down to the month.

Advanced Features

Multi-Person Profiles

Create separate profiles for each family member. Track wealth individually for each person, then switch to the Household view to see the combined net worth of your entire family. Each asset, account, and investment is tied to a specific person, so nothing gets mixed up.

Inflation Adjustment

Go to Settings and configure yearly inflation rates. The dashboard will then show two numbers: your nominal net worth and your real (inflation-adjusted) net worth. See exactly how much purchasing power you're gaining or losing each year. The app calculates cumulative inflation across multiple years automatically.

Date Range Filtering

The dashboard's bidirectional slider lets you select any date range with month-level precision. Filter from "Jan 2024" to "Sep 2025" to see exactly what happened during that period. All charts and totals update instantly based on your selection.

Currency Configuration

Choose EUR, USD, or RON as your display currency in Settings. All values across the entire app are converted accordingly. You can also edit exchange rates manually to match the rates that are most accurate for your situation.

Data Export & Import

Export all your data as a JSON file from the Settings page. Use this to create backups or transfer your data to another device. Import a previously exported file to restore everything instantly. The entire process happens in your browser — no data is uploaded anywhere.

Growth Analytics

The dashboard calculates percentage growth for each category between the start and end of your selected date range. See at a glance whether your real estate, cash, or investments grew faster. Identify trends and make informed decisions about where to focus your wealth building.

Practical Example

Imagine you want to track your wealth from 2025 to 2026. Here's what your data might look like:

Fixed Assets

  • 3-bedroom apartment, Cluj-Napoca, 75 sqm
  • Purchased at 80,000 EUR
  • 2025 market rate: 3,000 EUR/sqm = 225,000 EUR
  • 2026 market rate: 3,300 EUR/sqm = 247,500 EUR
  • Growth: +10%

Cash Accounts

  • USD account: 28,000 USD (2025 & 2026)
  • EUR account: 20,000 EUR (2025) → 10,000 EUR (2026)
  • RON account: 100,000 RON (2025) → 10,000 RON (2026)
  • All converted to EUR at configured rates

Investments

  • Bitcoin: 1 BTC (2025) → 2 BTC (2026)
  • S&P 500: tracked by units and price per year
  • Value = quantity × price per unit

The Dashboard chart would show all three categories stacked, revealing your total net worth at each point in time. You'd see the property appreciation, the cash drawdown (from 100k RON to 10k RON), and the investment growth from doubling your Bitcoin position — all in one unified view.
